It wouldn’t be a Spring Engagement Session in Halifax without a downpour; but that didn’t dampen our spirits!
Amanda and Brent flew in from Calgary ahead of their wedding later on this summer, and I’m so glad the East Coast weather didn’t put them off!
We began our session at The Lord Nelson; hiding from the wet weather; until finally the skies cleared and our evening session came to a gloriously sunny end. The Springtime colours of the boat house in the Halifax Public Gardens only added to the pastel prettiness in this collection!
I can’t wait to capture their nuptials in August and celebrate with them as they begin married life together.

Hailey and Shea were the winners of my Engagement Shoot Competition back in March of this year, and I am delighted that our paths crossed. These two worked hard to schedule in their session as Shea is a commercial fisherman which means that he is off shore for long periods of time. This was a beautiful way to provide them with some keepsakes for years to come and I can't wait to capture their wedding in the next few years.

Last week I had the pleasure of capturing these two lovebirds in a very special location for them. Having grown up in Lawrencetown, Andrew and Akayla are the epitome of high school sweethearts.
When choosing a spot for their engagement session, I love to communicate to my couples that they should first chose somewhere has meaning and memories for them. There is a comfort and ease to the session as they know their way around and can share these stories with me as we take a trip down memory lane together.
When I think of these images, I hope they’ll continue to evoke beautiful memories of their time there together.

Ella and Wyatt reached out to me only a few weeks ago but wanted to take full advantage of the recent snowfall that we had experienced over the last weekend. They chose the sweet little town of Truro and we met at Jimolly’s Coffee Shop on Inglis Street.
They met at the Agricultural College in Truro and therefore, it was only appropriate that we stop by their old campus at the end of the session to commemorate their time there together. It was bitterly cold that day, but that didn’t stop them from wrapping up warm and bringing their beloved dog, Tucker, along with them for a stroll by the Truro Public Library.
I can’t wait to capture their wedding this autumn and get to know these two better!

"Andrew proposed to me on a cliff overlooking a small beach in Whale Cove, Cape Breton.."
On learning this, I knew that this session was going to be an incredible chance to capture Alexandra and Andrew's love for one another by the ocean. They chose the iconic Peggy's Cove Lighthouse region of Nova Scotia and although the wind was blowing a gale, it was a gorgeous evening to celebrate, cool off from the heat of the day and get to know each other a little better.
Alexandra and Andrew are getting married in a few short months at Shining Waters Marina and I couldn't be more delighted and honoured to be included in their plans!

I often get asked “What’s the best way to get into film photography?”. My answer - “Stop using digital.”
It might seem obvious but there’s really nothing like actually shooting analogue film to get you into the swing of things, you have to just do it. Remove all other distractions and throw yourself into the beautiful process of not being able to see your images when you capture them.
This is one of the many reasons my clients and I adore film. It means I can be with you, truly and completely, without any distractions. I simply meter, compose and shoot. Jill Roberts Photography asked me to help her get acquainted with film photography recently and these beautiful scans are the result of a perfect walk through Point Pleasant Park.

Conrad's Beach in Nova Scotia, though lesser known, is a beautiful sandy beach just minutes from Dartmouth. Because it is sheltered, it has smaller waves than nearby Lawrencetown Beach - famous for it's surf territory, but Conrad's is as quaint as they come. The long beach is a favourite of mine due to it's long boardwalk, and the beautiful green fields surrounding it.
This session we were graced with the most perfect summer light - and once that fog rolled in - it became even more magical.

Having just celebrated their engagement in the incredible Costa Rica, Maddie and Ryan chose one of their favourite spots for their Spring Engagement Session in Halifax.
Long Lake Provincial Park didn’t disappoint, and their engagement session was abundant in leafy greens, lakes and walking trails — everything that Nova Scotia is well known for!
It was the perfect evening for skipping stones across the lake and exploring this little haven in Halifax.
I'm incredibly honoured to be entrusted with capturing these memories for them, and look forward to their 2020 wedding.

There’s something so special about celebrating milestones in your relationship and setting time aside to treasure those wonderful moments together. Naphtali and Matt did exactly that and for one evening, joined me in the very spot — 11 years to the day! — from where Matt proposed.
Not only does The Public Gardens in Halifax hold an incredibly special place in their journey, but it truly has those wonderful European vibes that I adore — Congratulations N+M on your Anniversary, here's to you as you embark on their next decade together as a couple.
