Allison and James have to be one of the sweetest, caring, and easy-going couples I have had the pleasure of knowing. This is a good thing given that three weeks before their big day, they had to plan not one, not two but three seperate weddings…

Their first wedding venue in Halifax, which we toured together around 6 months prior to their big day, unfortunately, fell through a few weeks beforehand due to water mains issues. The second hurdle occurred when their backup venue canceled two days out due to the impending hurricane which was expected to hit the weekend they got married. Thankfully, their third option held fast, but – as the bad weather grew imminently closer – we learned quickly that this storm wasn’t finished with us yet.

The morning of their big day, as the winds picked up and the rain poured down, I received a call from sweet A explaining that their getting-ready venue had already experienced a power outage, so – we uprooted everything and moved to The Muir Hotel in the centre of downtown Halifax. Plans changed on a dime, and everything we’d created in terms of a timeline was re-created spur of the moment. Three seemed to be their number; whilst they planned three weddings in three weeks – Allison had also three outfit changes on the day; a first-look gown that she and James had chosen together, her Mother’s wedding dress which had been lovingly redesigned for the ceremony and a sleek, sparkly reception look.

I could create a laundry list of things that didn’t go to plan for these sweet clients but through it all, they kept smiling, loving each other, celebrating everyone who had come to join them, and – despite it all – this might have been one of the best weddings of the year!

We all rallied hard to ensure that A+J had everything they might need; we even sent one of our team out in the middle of the hurricane to pick up the reception dress, which in a frantic hurry, had been left at their home; but this is just what we do at Jacqueline Anne Photography… and if confetti and rain on your wedding day represent luck, then these two deserve all the luck in the world!
